Ethical Use Policy
Last updated: 4/28/2026
Assetly is an open-source asset management platform released under the MIT License.
Uses We Do Not Welcome
While the MIT License does not legally restrict use, the author explicitly does not want Assetly used for managing or tracking assets within:
- •Military operations, installations, or offensive equipment
- •Weapons development, munitions tracking, or targeting systems
- •Surveillance infrastructure, facial recognition, or bulk monitoring
- •Systems for border control or restrictive immigration enforcement
- •Propaganda, state-sponsored disinformation, or voter suppression
- •Any application designed to monitor, harm, or control people without their consent
These are not legally enforceable restrictions under the license. They are a clear statement of moral intent. If your use case falls into the categories above, you are asked — sincerely — not to use this software.
In Short
"Use this software to manage resources that build communities, facilitate education, or power sustainable business. Not to track the infrastructure of harm, control, or surveillance."
